National Marriage Week Challenge: Day 9 (Valentine’s Day!)

The Challenges this week have been designed to help in the prevention of a marriage with MADD (Marriage Attention Deficit Disorder).

If you’ve engaged in the challenges, you’ve been practicing behaviors of love – and love certainly is about behavior.  Unconditional love, like we read about in scripture, is less about what we feel and more about what we do.

Your M&M passage for the final day the Challenge is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always persevere. Love never fails.

Break out your pencil and paper for this challenge.  Give as a gift to your spouse a list of ways that your are determined to show love to him/her in the next two weeks based on the principles of love from these incredible verses.  For instance, write down a particular time that you will be patient, a particular act of kindness they will experience from you, the kinds of occasions that you will rejoice in their success, refuse to brag, and refuse to be arrogant.

This Challenge is more challenging.  You’ll have to be a little creative and you’ll have to be moving; but love moves,so that’s good.

Happy Valentine’s Day. And remember, that this year, one of the coolest days to say “Be mine” is February 15th.
