Love Is…

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails. (1 Cor. 13:4-8)

Love is greater than miraculous gifts because of its incredible qualities!  Comment about which of the qualities you find most difficult to live out?  Which is the easiest for you?

  1. Wow, good question. I believe I am naturally a protector of those I love and I am also hopeful. I can typically look for a grain of hope on a dismal day. I also believe I am kind. I would have to say that being “self-seeking” is near the root of so many of my sins in marriage … when I try to look out for my own interests or my way before my husband’s. One of the most difficult things for me to yield to the Holy Spirit has been jealousy … and although I am not “there” yet, I can very gratefully say that the Spirit has reformed my heart to a degree I never thought possible. It is proof that if we are committed enough and determined to turn our will over to the Lord’s, He can and WILL change our hearts!

  2. I love these verses. This has come to be a template for me, not just a beautiful reading for weddings. It covers all areas of behavior, both for how we should act, and what we should avoid. I find that I can do each thing individually, but putting it all together and/or staying consistent is the hard part. Consistency is the key!
