You first. That was the mind of Christ (Phil 2:5). And the “you” was you. He valued you above himself and whatever drive he had in him to hold onto the equality that he had with God before he placed himself in a womb. You first.
The M&M passage for today describing the Mindset and Maturity we should have as imitators of Jesus is Philippians 2:3-4:
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
Make sure you flesh this passage out in your marriage!
Today is a great day to put it into practice. What act of service can you do for your spouse today that lets him or her know that you are saying, “You first”?
Maybe there is a decision you have to make about which you have a different opinion. Maybe there is a chore that you both hate to do that your spouse usually ends up doing. Maybe you don’t need our suggestions; perhaps you know where you have put yourself first and you just need to quit reading now so that you can show that you VALUE your spouse above yourself.
