The Couple’s Cure for the Monday Blues

1. Enjoy early morning sex. Set an alarm for 3 a.m. When 3 arrives, make love – quicky sex, but mutually satisfying – then go back to sleep. The impact of the next hours of sleep doubles. If you have two more hours of sleep, it will feel like four. Don’t forget to have a second alarm set for when you need to wake up!

2. Pray. Before you get out of bed, pray together. If Monday morning grumpies hit you often, pray that you’ll be able to practice love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If you don’t have the Fruit of the Spirit memorized. Do that now. It’s easy. Three sets of three. (Gal. 5:22-23)

3. Eat and/or exercise together. Don’t discuss anything serious. This should be time to connect.

4. Have some funny reminders around about the difficulty of Mondays. Laughter is the best medicine for the Monday blues often. Google some Monday Morning Memes.

5. Guard your heart. Everything in life flows from it. Be aware of the usual – and maybe unusual – schemes to bring you down. The devil has them. Don’t be overcome. (Prov. 4:23; 2 Cor. 2:11)

6. Have a 30 second hug and 10 second kiss before anybody leaves the house.
